Myeloproliferative Disorder Symptoms

Normally, the composition of the blood is stable. A shift in balance in favor of certain shaped elements causes adverse consequences. However, the disease is latent for a long time. The first myeloproliferative disorder symptoms appear with significant disturbances in the blood picture. Clinical manifestations of hemoblastoses are nonspecific. They may be as follows:

  • decreased performance, fatigue, weakness even in the absence of intense physical activity;
  • weight loss without any change in diet;
  • subfebrile indicators of body temperature;
  • sweating;
  • lack of appetite;
  • satiety with a small amount of food;
  • pain in the abdomen (in the right or left side);
  • enlargement of the liver and / or spleen;
  • hematomas on the body;
  • hearing problems;
  • puffiness;
  • pallor;
  • episodes of loss of consciousness;
  • dyspnea;
  • joint pain, etc.

Some types of myeloproliferative disorders have specific symptoms. So, true polycythemia can cause skin redness and severe itching after contact of the skin with liquids. Thrombocythemia is accompanied by bleeding from the gums, nose, small bruises on the skin (petechiae), and slow wound healing.

All oncohematological diseases develop gradually – the severity of symptoms increases over time. At any time, the myeloproliferative disease can begin to actively progress, and medications that were previously effective may lose their efficiency.
